Campaign Pledges
We will install 25 new covered bus shelters with seating and real-time arrival displays along the Troost Avenue and Prospect Avenue corridors by August 2025. Priority will be given to stops with the highest ridership that currently lack shelter. Each shelter will include benches, lighting, and ADA-compliant design. Budget: $375,000 from the transit improvement fund.
We commit to building new ADA-accessible restroom facilities at six neighborhood parks by October 2025. Parks included: College Hill Park, Riverside Park, Harrison Park, Orchard Park, Minisa Park, and Watson Park. Each facility will include changing stations and drinking fountains. Budget: $420,000 from the parks capital improvement fund. Construction will proceed in two phases to ensure at least three parks receive facilities by July 2025. We are committed to improving park accessibility for all residents.
We will install solar panel canopies over 80 parking spaces at the downtown parking garage and the South Lawrence Trafficway park-and-ride by March 2026. The solar arrays will generate an estimated 180 MWh annually, offsetting municipal building energy use. The canopies will also provide shade and weather protection for vehicles. Budget: $1.1 million from the sustainability fund. Federal tax credits will reduce net cost by 30%.
We will construct a new senior activity center in East Lawrence by June 2026. The facility will include a dining hall, fitness rooms, arts and crafts studios, and a computer lab. Transportation shuttle service will be provided for members without access to transit. Total investment: $2.8 million. Funding allocated in the community development budget.
We will install 2 miles of protected bike lanes along Massachusetts Street and convert 5 city-owned lots into pocket parks by December 2025.
We commit to installing 120 LED streetlights along the Oak Street corridor and adjacent residential blocks by September 2025.
We will construct a new community center in the downtown district by December 2026. The facility will include a library branch, meeting rooms, youth programs, and senior activities. Total investment: $4.2 million. Funding has been allocated in the current capital improvement budget.
The drainage along these roads will also be improved to prevent flooding during monsoon season.
The link road connecting North Sector to the highway will be widened and resurfaced. Work begins in May.

we will install 50 new streetlights along the bus routes serving East Ward.
the roads in East Ward will be repaired by the end of Q3. We have allocated 2 million for pothole repairs and resurfacing of Main Street and Oak Avenue. The drainage along these roads will also be improved to prevent flooding during monsoon season.
